VFW selects Horner for 2010 “Legislative Achievement Award”
State Representative Mike Horner was awarded the 2010 “Legislative Achievement Award” by the Florida Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) at their Mid Winter Conference in Lake Buena Vista. Horner received the award for his efforts in passing House Joint Resolution (HJR) 833 which will provide a property tax exemption for deployed military personnel.
“It is extremely humbling to receive an award from an organization made up of America’s greatest heroes,” said Representative Horner. “From their active duty years in the military, to their exceptional community service and undying devotion to our nation’s veterans, the members of the VFW stand among our community’s greatest examples of service and sacrifice.”
Osceola Republicans name Horner the “Man of the Year”
The Osceola County Republican Executive Committee recognized Mike Horner as the 2006 Republican Man of the Year. The presentation was made at the Osceola Lincoln Day Dinner, February 18, 2006. “Mike exemplifies what it means to be a Republican” said George Jackow, Chairman of the Osceola County Republican Executive Committee. “His hard work and strong example make him the perfect choice for this Award”
“I am proud to be a Republican, this party has done so much for our community and Country,” stated Horner at the Award Ceremony. “I am humbled to receive this honor and will continue to support the Republican Party and uphold its values.”
